Mary Schaefer is President and Lead Consultant of Artemis Path LLC, a consulting company. Mary coaches managers and employees on performance, development, and leadership. In her career as a Human Resources Manager for a Fortune 100 company, Mary served a community of over 500 employees and managers in areas such as performance management, interpersonal relations, teamwork, diversity, and creating a respectful work environment. Mary’s belief is that organizations are composed of unique human beings requiring individual attention in order to make the most of what they can contribute through their own energy and creativity, and at the same time meet their own specific needs for meaningful work. Even though she started her career as an Information Systems professional, once in the working world her avid interest in how people “work at work” ignited when she noticed that she was more interested in understanding how people reacted to changing job expectations than teaching them new computer programs. While pursuing a career in Human Resources and completing a Master’s in HR, Mary always found a way to be a part of diverse work assignments that involved helping people move through change. For example, through workshops and coaching, she helped hundreds of survivors of corporate downsizing to see how they could make positive choices moving forward, rather than be overwhelmed by constant job insecurity. Through her company, Artemis Path, Mary conducts interventions and training related to creating a more productive and collaborative work environment through effective discussions, whether it involves planning for a tough conversation about work performance or strategizing on how to react to changing job conditions. Mary brings her skills, experience, and knowledge through certification as a Human Resources Professional, to serve clients such as Xerox, DuPont and the State of Delaware.
